Hot Button Issues Committee

The Hot Button Issues Committee develops programs with speakers who present information on a variety of topics and advocacy positions that the League supports. The Committee also provides speakers for the League’s General Membership Meetings, which are held the 3rd Monday of the month September thru April. The presentations take place at sites all over town, such as public libraries. Occasionally meetings are scheduled as hybrid sessions with “in person” and “Zoom” options. The Committee develops these programs with input from the LWV-TLC Board and Membership. Be sure to check the League website for any updates to the calendar of events.

General Membership Meetings

League members come together for their general meetings with speakers who address current issues affecting our citizens. The meetings are traditionally held at various branches of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. The meetings are held monthly from September through April.  Check the Home Page Calendar for dates and times.  The General Membership Meetings are open to the public.

They Represent You  (TRY)  Booklet
The TRY is a Directory of Public Officials in Lucas County. Following the November election cycle, the Toledo-Lucas County (TLC) League compiles pertinent contact information for every public official in Lucas County's 5 cities, 6 villages, 11 townships & 11 Boards of Education.  This sizable booklet is printed and made available to all Lucas County Public Libraries early in the year after the election cycle.  We store the Lucas County TRY in our Resource/Media Library.

Speakers Bureau

The Speakers Bureau focuses on educating the public by providing presentations to community groups related to government (civics), public policy, and the history of the League of Women Voters.  League presentations are nonpartisan and are provided as a public service at no cost.  We do, however, accept donations for this service.

To volunteer as a speaker or if your organization would like to host a speaker, email president@lwvtoledo-lucascounty.org

Voters' Guide Committee

The League of Women Voters® of Toledo-Lucas County (LWV-TLC) is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to encouraging active and informed participation of citizens in government.  To this end and prior to the November election the LWV-TLC prepares a Lucas County Voters’ Guide.

LWV-TLC Volunteers contact the candidates requesting responses to issues the League believes will provide information for our citizens to make their decisions regarding the candidates they would choose.  Once completed, this information is also shared with the 411 guide.  www.Vote411.org

The League does not endorse, oppose, or evaluate any candidate or party.
